This Week's Sales

Today only deals at Safeway. I am hoping they still have the apple juice by this afternoon!

10 for $5 makes them .50/litre! Great substitute for white wine in recipes!

Tuesday is 10% off day. The chicken breasts are on again.

Buy 3 cereals and get a free milk. If you have coupons you could make this a better deal, plus combining it with 10% off day is good.

Safeway has cantaloupe .49/lb

Customer Appreciation Days at Extra Foods for June 4 and 5 only.
Spend $25 and get 10% off on that $25(not more than $25 so try to get it bang on or move to the $50)

Superstore has spend $250 and get a $25 gift card.

4L of Vinegar 2/$4.38

Salsa is $4.98 for 1.85L limit 4. Typically it doesn't go on sale again until August.

Trail mix is $5.98 for the 800g-1Kg. NN Pasta 2kg $3(limit 6)

Pineapples are $1.96. Grapes are 2lbs for $2.48.

Toilet Paper is $6.98(I only saw this in the Extra Foods flyer, not Supertore's)if it is the same one I have bought in the past it is 6720 sheets. If you were spending $100 and getting 15% off this would make this .00088/sheet. To compare this to the recent Soft and Pure deal using this price/sheet it would cost $15.21 for the same amount of toilet paper.(It was on sale for $14.97 so this is only .24 more)

Pharmasave has Crest toothpaste 130 ml for .99. I will probably price match at Walmart or Superstore as this store is far away from me.

This Week's Sales

These beautiful grosbeaks came to visit again this week!

They come every year at this time, but only for a short while.

The grosbeaks seem to not mind the clicking of the camera as I take a million pictures of them. The hummingbirds, however, are very noise sensitive! I was holding very still and standing next to the feeders, snapping grosbeak pictures, when a hummingbird flew SOOOO close to my face, I couldn't even move the camera without hitting him! Needless to say I didn't get a picture then, but here's one of the grosbeak posing, while the hummer feeds!

Posing.....

I only added a few of the MANY pictures I took.....don't you love digital cameras!

Ok, to the business at hand...this week's deals!

I don't see the food flyer online yet. Actually, I wasn't able to find most of the flyers now, but thought I'd at least get Superstore posted! Have a great day! :)

Best Deal On Toilet Paper Yet!!!

This week at Costco.

This Toilet Paper has a $5 off coupon! This package has 36 rolls which have 480 sheets/roll. That's 17280 sheets for $19.99-$5=$14.99. Divide the cost, $14.99 by the sheets and you get .000867/roll!!!! That's the cheapest I have seen it! Sales ends Sunday usually.
Here's a link to an older post in regards to tp. If you want to see them all just type in toilet paper in the search bar in the upper left corner of my blog, right beside the orange B and magnifying glass.

They figure out the price in square meters??? Yikes!

Here's a few other things I was able to take pictures of.

Yummy flax seed only $3.69!

Airmiles Coupons in the Mail Today Equals Cheap TP!!!

Did you get your Airmiles coupons today? Here's what they look like.

Here's the Safeway flyer, which starts April 20th. Combine the 50% off coupon with the Purex $5 toilet paper and you have a screaming deal on tp!!! There are 12 rolls of 270 sheets, so 3240 sheets. At 50% off it's $2.50/package. That makes it .0007716/roll!!!! Best price ever! Of course you can only get one package, but at least some of your tp is cheap!!!

My flyers always look like a math lesson by the time I am done with them!

There are also a few coupons for Purex out there. The 50% off coupon doesn't say anything about not using coupons so I will try and use one.(They are both from Websaver)

This is a super fun MIR. You need to buy 5 Dare products(one MUST be Bretons). Then send in the rebate form(in stores),your original receipt with the items circled and the UPC codes written on the back and they will send you a $15 gift card! This is available at Safeway, Save On, IGA,Metro, Coop Atlantic,Coleman's. (The rebate form says London Drugs, but when I called Dare they said that London Drugs wouldn't be participating). You don't NEED to spend $15...only buy 5 Dare products. I combined this with 10% off day and I bought 4 of the Real Fruit Gummies and one Breton's. My grand total was $11.19 so I will make $3.81(less a stamp). If you have any coupons for Dare products you could do even better!

Lakeview Market has Ragu for $1.28 and Grape Tomatoes 2/$3. Remember Walmart will match these prices.

Again About the Toilet Paper!

Here I go again....about the toilet paper! This week at Shoppers they have the Royale 12 packs and 16 packs for $5.99, it was not possible to see the sheets per roll on the flyer so I didn't know it was a good deal until I went to Shoppers. Do you have the gocoupons.ca coupon for $1?
Then this will cost you $4.99 for 4320 sheets.
 This makes it .001155/sheet.
This is a good price.
The 16 pack has 160 sheets more, however the coupon for Royale
is only good for 12 or 24 packs so you'd pay more for that size.

This is the NN toilet paper that was on sale in March at Extra Foods.(When I bought it it was on Customer Appreciation Day so I got 15% off. It cost $6.78 or .001009/sheet)
As you can see it worked out to .0011875/sheet, so it would cost $5.13 to buy the same amount of sheets as the Royale.
Is it sad that I use permanent marker to write these things on our tp? Maybe I inherited this from my grandpa? When they stopped putting price tags on things(when was that anyways?)I was always amazed that he took a felt or pen and wrote the prices on all his boxes. If he was still alive he might be proud of me???

Toilet Paper is Confusing!

Okay, so here's the thing....toilet paper is confusing....serioulsy! I have posted, edited, deleted and now my head hurts. Bottom line....the best way to figure it out is to use sheets per package....period. There's just too many confusing sizes! So, I guess I will have to deal with those awful long decimal numbers! So, I am sorry if I made your head hurt. We will need to take a calculator and work our brains hard, all in order to buy something we flush away.... :(  I am taking one last stab at it. Here it goes.

The tp on at Extra Foods and Superstore right now is 24 rolls of 280 sheets. That means there are 6720 sheets. The price is $7.98 so that means it's .0011875/ sheet.

Compare that to the Purex on for $5.47 for 12 rolls of 270 sheets, 3240. It costs .001688/sheet
If you were to buy the same number of sheets of the NN(6720)at the Purex price .001688 it would cost $11.34.
So, the best deal is the NN tp...and yes the deal gets better as you use the 10-15% off coupon.
I am going to retire from the toilet paper calculations now. I need to lie down.

Making sense of Toilet Paper Prices

Have you ever stood in the toilet paper aisle and wondered, how do I make sense of all this? Well, I have! Double rolls, single rolls, 8 doubles, 24 singles, 16 doubles...etc... Yikes!

I am hoping by writing this post we will figure out what's what when it comes to the ever necessary, tp!
These are 2 packages I bought recently. Now, there are 2 ways to figure this out. You can figure sheets per roll or rolls per package. The first thing to do is decide which method you prefer to use.
As you can see the actual sheet size(9.9cm x 10.1cm) in this comparison is the same. (Overall they seem to be this size, but you definitely need to check that this is true). Both of these are 2 ply. (I personally don't usually buy 1 or 3 ply. I think that 1ply is too thin and 3 ply is too thick, but this is up to each shopper). You can use all the calculations below for 1 or 3 ply if those are your preference.
Where the difference comes in is the sheets per roll.
The Purex have 270 sheets per roll.
The Majesta have 280 sheets per roll.

So, let's start by figuring out sheets per roll.
You can  figure that out by multiplying the rolls,8 by the sheets/roll, 280. (8 x 280)
This means this package has 2240 sheets.

The Purex has 3240 sheets.(270 x12)
Now to figure out the cost of these sheets.( My kids have learned a trick to remember this, they say always take the money and divide it by the size).
This package cost  $3.47 after the $2 off coupon. So to figure out the cost per sheet, take the money it cost in total, $3.47 and divide by the sheets/package, 3240. The cost is .00107/sheet.

The Majesta was $1.99 after my $2 off coupon, making it .00089/sheet. To figure this I took the cost, $1.99 and divided it by the sheets, 2240. Now, is it just me or is it not that easy to eyeball these numbers and figure out the difference!?
The Majesta is cheaper.
The second method is to figure out the cost per roll.

Make sense? Clear as mud????

Toilet Paper Deals at Canadian Tire???

Starting this Friday Canadian Tire has Majesta toilet paper, 8
double rolls for $3.99. At $3.99 it works out to .25/roll. How can you get it cheaper? There are 2 coupons out there, one for $2 and one for $1. These were from save.ca. That would make this tp .12-.19/roll. It doesn't say that rain checks aren't allowed, so maybe you can get one if they are out? You may be able to ad match at Walmart, if they carry this size. Seems this is the catch with toilet paper deals, all stores carry different sizes!

Here's what the coupons look like.
