I've said it before, I'll say it again....I love that we have access to fruits and veggies at good prices year round here in the Okanagan! Here are the deals for Quality Greens and Lakeview Market. Time for some healthy eating after all that Christmas sugar!

Rexall also has staps 10% off this coming week.

Did you do the movie MIR for Lady Speed Stick? If not you could get a movie ticket for $2.98 this week if you buy 2 Speed Stick at Rexall. All the info is here.Remember if you decide to do this MIR you can't use coupons.

Sometimes it makes me crazy the $ off coupons Save On and Coopers do. You never know if it's a good deal or not becasue you don't know how much the thing is originally! Today, I had to stop at the library and Coopers is in the same mini mall so I thought I would check out the $5 off coupon on the front of the Save On and Coopers flyers. The deal: 2kg of lean ground beef in a chub for $12-$5 coupon=$7.00  That's 3.50/kg or $1.59/lb!!!!! screaming! There's a limit of 2. It's on until the 17th. Don't forget to get a raincheck if they don't have any.

I had just told my menu planning buddy how I had froze the hamburger I had bougt at Safeway without making any meatballs first! Well, seems I got a second chance! It took about 10 minutes of hands on time to make these 3 trays of meatballs below. My recipe isn't exact. I just added garlic, eggs, breadcrumbs, an onion and salt and pepper.

I put them in the oven at 400 for 15-20 minutes and then stuck them out on the deck(it's -5) to prefreeze them. After about a half hour I put them in a ziploc and put them in the freezer.

With some avocados I bought earlier in the week I made this yummy guacamole  The recipe is Patti's, a home stay student of my brother's.
Guacamole
2 avocados
1 Large Tomato
2 Limes
1 onion
coarse salt
pepper
cilantro(optional if your family has banned it, I made some just for me with cilantro!)
Patti said the main thing was to add enough lime juice, that's what makes it taste great!
Mix all together and serve with chips, crackers, on burgers, as dip for pizza....or just all by itself! So tasty!

Customer Appreciation Deals

Tomorrow is 10% off day at Safeway and 10-15% off at Extra Foods. Here are some of the deals out there.

Safeway has mushrooms $1.99/lb($1.79/lb on 10% off day)

Buy 3 Kellogg's cereal for $12 and get a free milk.
Works out to $10.80 for the cereal on 10% off day, use some coupons to get your total even lower.

Windex are 2/$5 and have bonus airmiles if you by 3 or 6. This weekend in the  Smart Source there was this coupon for by 2 save $2. Making it $1.50/ bottle or $1.25 on 10% off day.

Kraft is having their buy 3 products and get a free Cracker Barrel cheese again. Combine this with coupons and  10%  off day for an even better deal!

Oven Joy Bread $1.25 a loaf! $1.23/loaf on 10% off day!

Airmiles Coupons in the Mail Today Equals Cheap TP!!!



Did you get your Airmiles coupons today? Here's what they look like.



Here's the Safeway flyer, which starts April 20th. Combine the 50% off coupon with the Purex $5 toilet paper and you have a screaming deal on tp!!! There are 12 rolls of 270 sheets, so 3240 sheets. At 50% off it's $2.50/package. That makes it .0007716/roll!!!! Best price ever! Of course you can only get one package, but at least some of your tp is cheap!!!

My flyers always look like a math lesson by the time I am done with them!

There are also a few coupons for Purex out there. The 50% off coupon doesn't say anything about not using coupons so I will try and use one.(They are both from Websaver)

This is a super fun MIR. You need to buy 5 Dare products(one MUST be Bretons). Then send in the rebate form(in stores),your original receipt with the items circled and the UPC codes written on the back and they will send you a $15 gift card! This is available at Safeway, Save On, IGA,Metro, Coop Atlantic,Coleman's. (The rebate form says London Drugs, but when I called Dare they said that London Drugs wouldn't be participating).You don't NEED to spend $15...only buy 5 Dare products. I combined this with 10% off day and I bought 4 of the Real Fruit Gummies and one Breton's. My grand total was $11.19 so I will make $3.81(less a stamp). If you have any coupons for Dare products you could do even better!

Lakeview Market has Ragu for $1.28 and Grape Tomatoes 2/$3. Remember Walmart will match these prices.

Don't Throw Out That Paper...$1 off milk inside

Today in our Event Paper the new coupon book came. Inside is the $1 off milk coupon. If you don't live close to Lakeview Market, Walmart will take the coupon and give you a $1 off your milk. I just cut it out pop it in my purse and the next time I'm in Walmart and need milk, I use it! It's nice that the expiry date isn't until April 30th. If you don't get a paper to your house there are Event(yellow) boxes in most neighborhoods.

This Week's Sales

Lakeview Market has some great weekend sales! The Chippers are an good deal! $1.28 for 300g limit 4.(works out to $4.26/Kg)
The lowest I have tracked them at Costco(Chipits brand)is $4.25/Kg but that was more than
a year ago and they seem to be about $4.50 at the cheapest now.
Remember Walmart will match this price. They will also match any thing in these flyers that they carry as long as you bring in this paper. (It was in Thursdays Event)
The celery is .98 limit 4.

Bananas and Oranges are .58/lb. The 3lb bag of onions is .98.

Safeway has cases of Campbells soups for $4.98(which works out to .42/can)
Lucerene Ice Cream is $3.99 for the 4L pail. Ignore my writing that says Friday only, it doesn't apply to the ice cream.

FRIDAY ONLY Value Red Bacon is 2/$5! That's a great deal!

Superstore has NN English Muffins on for a$1. Might be a good combo with the
cheap eggs at Safeway, and the cheap cheese from last week! Add the bacon and you have
a big breakfast!

Suey Choy is .48/lb. 1Kg of garlic is $1.28.

This Week's Sales

How can you spend the least amount on groceries?
Several things are key for me. I find these things are the most helpful.
1. Menu plan, every week
 2.Use the flyers and my price book to get the best possible deals
3. Have my list with me all week so if I happen to be in the area of the stores with the sales I can pop in and get what's on my list.(I just copy and paste this list of sales into a word pad, take out all my extra comments and print, feel free to do the same if it helps)
4. Try and combine coupons to lower prices of items I am already buying
5.Keep track all month of what I am spending and tally it at the end of the month
6. Use what I have(try to waste nothing)
This week it looks like there are some good deals! Combining these with Customer Appreciation Days(Safeway 10%, Extra Foods 10-15%, Save On 15%)could make for some great deals. My plan is to  see if I can use all my FPC at Safeway on Tuesday.

The garbage bags seem to be a great deal 100 for $4.47, but I wonder about the strength anyone use them? I usually buy garbage bags at Costco.

The boneless skinless chicken breasts are on sale again. $2.99/lb or 4Kg for $26.36 limit 2(10% off makes them $23.72 or $2.70/lb)
Sugar is on 10Kg for $8.99(the last time there was a go deal was at Walmart and it worked out to .82/kg, so this is better)
At 10% off this works out to $8.09 for 10Kg.
So, if you only bought those 2 things you would be at the minimum of $35(actually $35.35). You would get $3.54 off making your grand total $31.81.
