Register for our payroll deposit promotion at any Envision branch.
Transfer a new automated payroll direct deposit to your Envision account.
Once Envision Financial has determined that you qualify for the $250 WestJet gift certificate, you will be contacted with further details.

Tracking Spending with Envelopes

Spring!

I have found a method of tracking our spending that works well for us. I hope it might be helpful to you. I had always liked the envelope method of budgeting, but never want to have real cash around. One day the kids and I were talking about how much things cost and I suddenly thought, why not use play money!

So we got some Monopoly and Full House game money.

Then I took plain envelopes and listed all the household expenses.

In the bottom corner is the amount needed monthly.

Then I fill the envelope with the money needed.

When I come home from shopping I add up my receipts and take out the money to "pay" the total of the receipts.

The receipts goes into the envelope. At a glance you can look into the envelopes and see exactly where you are at.

US Credit Cards for Canadians

Buying things from the United States on your Canadian Credit Card can cost you, big time! 2.5% is the normal charge! Not only is our dollar worth way less, we also get dinged by our credit card! Ouch. Well, there's a way around it. It seems BMO has the only no fee card. Here's the link.

Flight Sale

I just returned from Edmonton. While there I was without Internet. I found this deal this evening on www.redflagdeals.com. Hope it's not too late for someone to use it!

Head over to WestJet.com for a great deal on flights between Vancouver and Edmonton. There's no advertising for this pricing, but there it looks like there is a good number of flights available for $59.00. At the same time, use coupon code CCH2009 to shave another $10 off flights. If you book a return flight, each flight will be discounted by $10. From what we can see, these fare prices appear to be available for Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday flights until the end of June. At the same time, WestJet's advertised promotion for this week is a price guarantee... book by April 6 and if your flight gets cheaper before you fly, you will be credited the difference. All of that adds up to a hot deal! There's no word on when the cheap $59 fares will disappear, so book soon. A big thanks to yvrwindsor for sharing this deal, and to nocsec for the coupon code!

Happy flying!!
