Gluten Free Pizza Dough in the Breadmaker

I have been learning new things! Lots of new things!

This July my husband was diagnosed with celiac disease. He was quite sick for the last year. After the good news that he did not have cancer he found out no more gluten for him! So, I have been learning about gluten free cooking and baking! I thought of renaming my blog Spending Your Hard Earned Money, when I saw the price of gluten free things. If you are just starting this journey after being diagnosed, maybe I can save you some trouble?????

This Gluten Free Pantry bread maker pizza mix I bought at Extra Foods on Family Appreciation Day. My sister in law spotted it in the clearance! It is regularly $5.99(I have since seen it in Safeway in their gluten free section, so it's still available.)After 50% off and 15% off I ended up paying $1.82. Here's what I learned.
This mix calls for lots of additions: 2 eggs, milk, butter, vinegar.....
So far my experience with gluten free dough is that it's nasty  sticky stuff! The bread maker has a hard time mixing it all properly so it's a good idea to give it a good stir with a spatula from time to time.
The first time I tried another pizza dough mix I just proceeded like I would with normal dough....WRONG! It's very hard to manage! My incredibly smart husband was around as I took a fit  tried to figure out how to press it into a pan, and he suggested using wax paper to press it in!!! Works fabulously!

Don't use your hands use wax or parchment paper to press your dough into the pans.

They aren't perfect,as I don't believe in that.....

Prebaking them to brown them before adding the toppings is important. I did 425 for about 10-15 minutes. Keep an eye on them as they brown quickly. I used Natural Selections gluten free pepperoni only because I had a coupon to get it for free. The bacon bits are from Costco and they are also gluten free. It was so yummy!

Some Deals!

Happy Easter!!!
I found some deals to share with you. You may have noticed that quite a few of the grocery stores have opted to end last week's flyer on Wed and the new flyer started yesterday. The Walmart deals I got you can get this week. The Alymer's Tomatoes were $1 each. There are coupons on them for $1 off when you buy 2. I had these from early purchases, so 2 cans for tomatoes for $1, or .50 each! The sandwich meat is Piller brand, which is a Checkout 51 offer this week. The ham/salami was $1.67-$1.50 from Checkout 51, makes it .17/package. The pizza meat was $3.77-.75 coupon-$1.50 Checkout 51=$1.52. An interesting aside is that the pizza pack of meat had HST on it, the small pack of ham meat had none. I asked the teller and she had no idea why that was. I went to customer service and they refunded the .45 tax charged! They had no idea why that happened, and I don't know if anything was done about it, so watch your receipts. It should not be taxed!
At Costco, the cream cheese is on for $5.99 for a 3 pack!!!
The romaine pack is $1.99! I don't know if these deals are just at our store, or if they are at all stores.

Our Costco has the 3 packs of chickens on until Sunday they are $6 off.  They seem to be around $30 ish dollars, so that makes them around $2.18/lb. Again, smaller is better with this deal.
At Superstore, the Tenderflake Pie Crusts are $2.47. There is the $1.50 off when you buy 2 coupon and Checkout 51 has $1. So, for 2 it was $2.44 or $1.22 each! There are 2 crusts inside so if you use them separately it means they cost .61 each!

Peanut Free Granola Bars for .50 and Free Orange Juice!

This week at Save On Foods they have Chewy Granola Bars on 5/$10. There is a coupon here for $1.50 off peanut free Quaker Chewy Granola Bars. You only need one coupon. That makes them .50/box, but that's not all, there's more! Buy 3 Quaker Granola bars and you get a free Trop 50 juice! Put your granola bars through first and your Trop 50 automatically becomes free on the registers computer.

The $1.50 off coupon is good until Oct 16.

Here's a copy of the receipt. As you can see the one coupon told the computer to take it off of every box of bars. After 3 boxes, automatically the OJ comes off.
